RT Profiles
The Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness (DHW) has adopted a needs-based approach to health workforce planning in Nova Scotia. The DHW collects data annually regarding health professions from a variety of sources including regulatory bodies, employers, educational institutions and national statistics agencies. This data reflects the provincial supply and demand for each profession.
Following annual registration each year, the NSCRT is required to submit registration data to the DHW that reflects the current number of RTs licensed in the province and details about employment and areas of practice. A respiratory therapy profile for the province is generated from this data. No identifying details about members are shared with the data submission. This data facilitates the DHW's evidence-based decision making about the health workforce.
