Careers
Respiratory Therapists are graduates of a three-year diploma, or four-year joint diploma/degree programs. These programs are offered at colleges and universities, in conjunction with teaching hospitals, and other health care organizations. Currently, Dalhousie University offers a three-year diploma program or four-year degree program in Respiratory Therapy from the School of Health Sciences.
In Nova Scotia, all respiratory therapists must be registered with the NSCRT to work in the profession. Once registered, they must take part in ongoing quality assurance activities to keep their skills up to standard and ensure high-quality care for patients. These activities are required for respiratory therapists to maintain their licenses and continue practicing.
