Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Regulator of Respiratory Therapy is responsible for overseeing and managing the strategic direction, governance, and regulatory operations of the organization. They work together to make sure the regulator follows its mission, vision, and core principles while also complying with legal rules, bylaws, and policies.

The NSRRT BOD keeps updated descriptions of what Board members do. These descriptions help people who are thinking about joining the Board understand their responsibilities. They also help with evaluating Board members and making sure everyone is fulfilling their role properly.

Board members are chosen either by the NSRRT registrants or by the government. Their job is to provide leadership, set goals and values, and create policies that guide the NSRRT. They work to improve programs and services for both registrants and the public. They also support the NSRRT’s employees and volunteers, treating them as important partners in achieving the NSRRT’s mission. Board members usually serve for two years unless stated otherwise.

*Board members, committee members, and advisory group members can receive a payment, called an honorarium, from the NSRRT. This payment is meant to acknowledge their contributions to the profession. They are paid an hourly rate for attending meetings, and the Board decides the rate when approving the annual budget. The current hourly rate is $25/hour.
