NSCRT Pandemic Plan

The evolving H1N1 influenza pandemic demonstrates that we must prepare for unforeseen circumstances and identify strategies by which we can assure the public that the NSCRT regulatory mandate can be met during anticipated human resource challenges. This document outlines our priorities, communication plan, emergency operational team, and ethical statements regarding Respiratory Therapists duty to provide care.

NSCRT Announcements

It is with deep sadness that the CSRT was informed of the death of a respiratory therapist, RRT Karin Schiozaki, from the H1N1 Influenza A, at the Kingston General Hospital, Ontario, on October 19th. Karin Schiozaki was a long-time member of the CSRT. As far as we know, this is the first respiratory therapist to succumb to this virus. On behalf of the CSRT Board of Directors and the CSRT membership, we extend our condolences to the Shiozaki family.

The CSRT continues to monitor the situation as the second wave of the H1N1 Influenza A spreads across the country. We will continue to provide our members with information and support as the situation develops.

The CSRT has set up a H1N1 Network listserv. If you have not registered yet for this on-line discussion group, please consider joining at http://www.csrt.com/en/professional/H1N1_influenza.asp
