DUTIES:  The instructor will plan, develop, and deliver instruction to students enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy program and other Health Science programs.  S/he will evaluate student progress and manage the resources of the learning environment.  Instructors will keep course portfolio documents required for accreditation processes and engage in instructional development/improvement plans. All employees are expected to contribute to professional and community life within the College and beyond.  Depending on course delivery needs, this could be a clinical or classroom position.  Employees may be required to work differing hours and/or through summer months.

 Respiratory Therapist (1.0 FTE) until November 2011 Centre-Wide Respiratory Therapy, Emergency & Critical Care, Children's Health Program
 Reporting to the Manager for Pediatric Critical Care, with professional accountability to the Chief of Respiratory Therapy. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is an integral member of the health care team who interacts with other health care professionals, families and patients to ensure safe delivery of respiratory care and the application of respiratory therapy techniques. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • airway management / intubation / airway care
  • oxygen / humidity therapy
  • mechanical ventilation including HFFOV
  • special gas administration e.g. NO, N2
  • surfactant therapy
  • special team member: High Risk Delivery, Cardiac Arrest, Trauma, PICU, NICU, Air Medical Transport
  • arterial puncture
  • aerosol delivery
  • participate in Research Studies
  • student education
  • haemodynamic monitoring
